Wonderful docu. I have read a lot more than most on Hitler & is very surprising how accurate & balanced this is. I consider it a must download.

This is just another allied propaganda smear piece. At least they didn't claim der Fuehrer was a homo or a devil worshipper, as seems to be all the rage these days. Ever notice how these types of documentaries never show Adolf Hitler smiling or speaking in a moderate tone? They always only ever use footage in which his voice is raised, he's looking angry or stern, he's slamming his fist into the lectern, etc. They're obviously cherry-picking their footage to make the man look like a maniac. When your entire image of Hitler has been formed by these types of soundbytes, a film like Leni Riefenstahl's "Triumph of the Will" can come as a surprise. In Riefenstahl's film, der Fuehrer comes across as eloquent and soft-spoken, only occasionally raising his voice for effect.

I found it balanced. Bearing in mind that this was made just after the war I don't consider that they made him out to be a bigger tyrant than he was. They covered his history and of the second world war in 1 hour! Riefenstahl made a film to show him off in the best possible light. By contrast this film didn't show him in the worst possible light - hence it's balanced. I may be biased as I lived in London during the war and was well aware of what he unleashed.
