Not many people do realize that this movie is based on one of the novels by recently passed Polish science-fiction writer Stanislaw Lem. The novel's title is "Astronauci" (The Astonauts) and was written in 1951. Because of its heavy socialist realists overtone Lem in his late years forbade the publishing houses to publish this book again. This is one of the "gems" of that era. Really quite well done with just a bit of a "Star Trek" feel (take a good look at the makeup of the crew). Also interesting in that it was produced on the communist side (Poland/East Germany) durng the cold war. If you like classic science fiction this is a must see. Not up to the quality of a "The Day the Earth Stood Still" but way better than "just another B movie".

This movie is really worth keeping and downloading. A little bit naiv and declaritory but except from that they had good ideas, some of them you find centuries later revived in other movies. I remember the chess playing electronic brian - well, captain future has one too :) Funny custumes, very engaged actors, good camera move, and nice special effs for that time! Very good video and sound quality, straight and closed story, and a philosophic message of course!

To przykład ,że potrafiono robic dobre filmy s.f .Nie zawsze wielkie pieniądze i aktorzy (vide:"Solaris"),są gwarancją na dobre kino.Jestem pełen podziwu dla scenografi z tamtych lat .Świetna powieśc Lema to podstawa lecz flm warto zobaczyć .O.K

As science fiction goes this is not a bad movie. Eastern European cinema produced some excellent films in this genre and Planeta Burg (planet of Storms) is one of my treasured memories. Unfortunately science fiction does not age well, probably because what was science fiction in the sixties is now on the wrists and in the pockets of billions of people around the world - not to mention on the dashboards of most new cars. This film is no exception and the dated look is a small minus. Nevertheless it is a highly recommended work which rises well above the usual 1960s sci-fi dross.
