(1940) {aka Enemy Agent} Boris Karloff is in cracking form as the creepy spy, who changes attitude from being a butler to German agent to British Agent in the blink of an eye. Margaret Lindsay is another spy who also can change persona just as quickly. At the heart of it all there is the mysterious German master spy, Strendler, who the British Intelligence Service must eliminate - at any cost, even if innocent people get hurt or killed. Although the setting is 1917, there are references to 1940's thoughts that appear a little heavy handed now, but you have to remember that later on in 1940 it was a win or loose time for Britain with the evacuation at Dunkirk and the aerial Battle of Britain. There are a couple of good model air raid scenes. This is only an hour long, and you are almost left breathless in wondering what side each of the spies are really on - remembering that Strendler is the goal and anybody else is fair game. A good print too, Video 9 Sound 9.
